Ronnie's Tuned Marauder Pistol (RE Tack-12)
i have developed an increadable tune for the Marauder Pistol according to National Champion Ray Apelles for Team Crosman. I received one of the first pistols off the production line and have been on a mission ever since in hopes of getting a better shot to shot consistency and to increase the shot count. although tuned for competition, it makes a great hunting rig out to 35 and even 50 yards on small pests.
It took me 5 months of trial and error to come up with my tune called the RE Tack-12. I had no idea that so many shots could be achieved with such a tiny air cylinder with out installing a regulator. i basically doubled the shot count. Look at the chrony report and see that my tune is in fact operating a lot like a regulated gun. 35- 40 shots with about a 25 spread or 25 shots with about a 10-12 spread for competition. Most Pistol courses are 25 shots so one get through an entire match on a single fill. super butter smooth operation because the guns is operating at a hghter fill pressure. The valve operates much quicker and smoother giving the feel of a stock .177 cal but is in fact a 22 cal. It is that smooth compared to the factory configuration. Smooth means the pistol will not be as jumpy and resulting in less recoil compared to the factory low pressure fill. This translates to better accuracy down range. the faster valve operating on a higher fill pressure also makes the pistol a little less noisy. I am getting over 1,000 psi of usable air space compared to the 550 psi on the stock configuration.
This gun pictured is my 4th tune and very proud of this particular gun due to its exceptional barrel. This is as accurate as they get folks. one holing em off the knee at 21 yards. Mileage may very from pistol to pistol. accuracy has a great deal to do with the barrel but the shot to shot consistency and shot count shows my ability.
The other day i printed a 3 shot group with my personal pistol measuring .429 end to end or .209 center to center off the knee at 50 yards.
along with some other secrets, I have polished the lead-in on the barrel. This will insure a smooth feed thus not scaring the head of the pellet when entering the breech which translated to better accuracy. in the future, i will be including the polish on the crown of the barrel if needed.
